His work has been widely exhibited around the word, including solo exhibitions in the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, and his photography is held in the collections of the National Galleries of Scotland, the Royal Scottish Academy, and the V&A. Long since associated in Scotland with New Year, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ has been sung across the English-speaking world, and beyond, since the 1920s, and has featured in classic Hollywood movies such as It’s a Wonderful Life and When Harry Meets Sally . Mini Tartan Notebook Red Red Rose ‘A Red, Red Rose’, first published in 1794, is one of Robert Burns’ most famous and beautiful songs, with its perennial popularity exemplified by Bob Dylan naming the song’s lyrics as the greatest inspiration on his career. ‘A Red, Red Rose’ is represented by the Burns Check tartan ‘Flower of Scotland’, first published in 1967, is the most recent of the four Scottish songs. Written by Roy Williamson of the band The Corries, ‘Flower of Scotland’ was adopted as the national song of the Scottish rugby union team in 1990, and is considered the ‘unofficial’ national anthem of Scotland.
