At the entrance to the Scottish Highlands, Dunkeld once marked the transition, in the form of the Highland Line, from Lowland Scotland to the Gaelic speaking Highlands. As a transitional region it has seen its share of violence and conflict over the ages and as an area of great natural beauty, once transport links were establish in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, it became a favourite tourist haunt for wealthy Victorians. Industry has passed this lovely region by and the villages have moved from Feudal agriculture to tourist beauty spot without losing any of their charm. |
