Loch Ness is approximately 23 miles long and the second largest Scottish loch by surface area after Loch Lomond. Its great depth makes it the largest by volume with its deepest point being 755 ft (230m). It contains more fresh water than all of the lakes in England and Wales combined and is the largest body of water on the Great Glen Fault.
