This Gaelic translation by Johan Smith is a brilliant and creative version of The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse: The Animated Story by Charlie Mackesy. Johan has previously translated children's picture books and therefore has a good understanding of how to knit words into, and around, the illustrations in a way that looks good but also uses beautiful language. The BBC One animated film, releasing on Christmas Day, will adapt Charlie’s soothing drawings into full colour, giving a lovely new dimension to the story. The cast is set to include Tom Hollander as The Mole, Idris Elba as The Fox, Gabriel Byrne as The Horse and newcomer Jude Nicoll as The Boy. The UK edition is the best-selling hardback book since records began, spending 150 consecutive weeks in the Sunday Times Bestseller Chart.
