Scotland's Canals and Waterways

Scotland didn't have many canals, but those that were made were magnificent and wonderfully varied in character. Through the central lowlands, the Great Glen and in Mid Argyll it was almost as if Mother Nature had laid out natural routes expecting them to be canalised. The author Guthrie Hutton says "Canals have been a big part of my life, I have sailed on them, walked beside them, found solace in their tranquility and been thrilled by their engineering magnificence. I have enjoyed many friendships with fellow enthusiasts and thank them all for enriching this story".
