In sepia and in full colour this latest collection from self-dubbed steamer dreamer Andrew Clark deals with the Clyde steamers that plied to and from Ayrshire ports. The heyday of this pleasure cruising was the 1890s to the 1950s when dozens of different steamers were involved. Today only the Waverley continues the tradition of departing from Ayrshire and heading off in all directions. This companion volume to the authors other three Steamers to titles is, like them, illustrated from his extensive collection of rare and unusual steamer images. Locations featured in the book are Ardrossans Winton Pier, Largs, Ailsa Craig, Ayr, Portencross, Fairlie, Irvine, Troon and Girvan. |
