A collection of contemporary poetry from Jon Plunkett.
Mothsoul reifies the poet’s ideal of “making”. Here we have Frost’s subtle talk-song, but also handicraft and a tactile allegiance to the natural world. Together, they cultivate an understated trust in Plunkett as a guide to intentionality. We believe him because the most inconsequential of objects, from ladder rungs to ling, come to resemble a whole universe. One that is ‘confined’ to form, he admits, but one in which, eventually, the individual ‘breaks into dust and [returns] across the epochs.’ Where so many poets today articulate panic, Plunkett is the antidote. He imparts comfort and wisdom. |
