Eiginn Uisdein (May)

Eiginn Uisdein (May)

Description:

Èiginn Ùisdein is a full-length Gaelic adventure story told over 16 short chapters and approximately 8,500 words. It features animals as characters, and a fox cub called Ùisdean in the leading role.

The lead character in this case is an animal but like good animal character-led stories, the reader sympathises with Ùisdean throughout his adventure. The fox world is shown to imitate the human world, and so the story and emotions it generates would be equally relevant in a human setting. Showing it through an animal's perspective makes it easier to convey ideas and themes such as rejection and shame to young readers, and it is all done in an entertaining but educational way.

Èiginn Ùisdein is written in Gaelic and is aimed at children aged 8+. With beautiful full-colour illustrations by Veronica Petrie, this adventure story is both exciting and humorous and is sure to be enjoyed by many.
