Madame Scotia

Description:

In the eary 1920s, Heloise Russell-Fergusson saw a Celtic harp in a Washington DC shop window. From this first encounter a lifetime of learning and performace was triggered, taking traditional Hebridean songs from New York to Cairo and beyond. Fascinated by the ways in which people use music to universally reflect their beliefs and respond to their surroundings, Heloise brought back early understandings of world music that startled the conventional clarsach playing community of the 1960s.
